THE Association of Malay Entrepreneurs (Kesuma) was mooted by Mr. Ibrahim Ariff. Kesuma is a non-profit organization, registered with the Registry of Society in June 2003. The membership of the association is opened to all entrepreneurs and corporate in Singapore.
Kesuma’s vision is to serve its members and breed successful Entrepreneurs.
The Association is managed by a group of entrepreneurs elected bi-annually at the Association’s Annual General Meeting. Within 20 months of its launch, KooBits software was adopted by more than half of Singapore’s Primary schools and numerous International Schools such as Australian International School Singapore and United World Colleges. Start-Up@Singapore (S@S) is a world-class business plan competition organized by National University of Singapore (NUS) Entrepreneurship Society, and supported by the NUS Entrepreneurship Centre and NUS Business School Alumni Association. Launched in 1999 and now in our tenth year, S@S aims to be the beacon for start-ups on their road to success.
Since our inception, S@S has attracted more than 1700 teams and 6000 participants, some from countries as far away as Australia, Canada, Norway, Pakistan, Russia and Greece. In addition to this, S@S has also spawned more than 60 start-ups, including award-winning businesses like tenCube, FriarTuck, PerceptiveI, World Indigo, PurpleAce and Quantagen. Entrepreneurship is an essential life skill needed by every individual in order to deal with the challenges of today’s fast-moving environment. Youth Enterprise Academy develops the necessary mindset, knowledge and skills through a continuity programme that educates students in a course of project-based, hands-on entrepreneurial education.
Youth Enterprise Academy is currently a Service Provider for ITE College West's Integrated Student Development Fund (ISDF) for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Youth Enterprise Academy is also a Friend of YEAH! (Service Provider). YEAH! (Youth Excellence Award in the Heartlands) is a youth initiative of South West Community Development Council.
Till today, over 10,000 youths have benefited from the programs and activities at YEA, which continues to offer mentorship and guidance to nurture these youth in making entrepreneurship a way of life. |
